Spokane shower tile FAQ

Who installs the tile?

A licensed local tile installer does the work. We connect Spokane-area homeowners with the installer. We are not the installer.

Are calls recorded?

Yes. Calls to (509) 472-9927 may be recorded. Washington requires notice, so a recorded message plays when the call starts.

Can I use the form instead of calling?

Yes. Use the short form on any page or email [email protected]. Include your zip code and a short description of the tile work.

Can I send photos?

Yes. Email them to [email protected]. Photos of the whole shower, the curb, and any stains are the most useful.

Do you sell shower or bathroom tile?

No. There is no showroom. The installer can tell you what to buy, or can include tile in the job when that is part of the quote.

Does white or chalky grout mean the shower is leaking?

Not by itself. Spokane hard water often leaves a pale mineral film. A soft curb, lifted flooring outside the shower, or a stain below an upstairs bathroom is more likely to point to a leak.

What is a shower pan?

It is the sloped, waterproof base under a tile shower floor. It sends water to the drain. The waterproofing page explains how pans fail.

How do Schluter, a liner, and hot-mop differ?

A Schluter-style sheet membrane sits directly behind the tile and seals to the drain. A liner sits below a mortar bed and drains through weep holes. Hot-mop uses asphalt and felt below the mortar.

Can I keep the tub and replace the surround tile?

Yes. The tub can stay while the installer rebuilds the wet walls and sets new tub surround tile. See bathroom tile.

What is the difference between a curbed and curbless shower?

A curbed shower has a low barrier around the pan. A curbless shower has no step, so the bathroom floor or framing may need to change. See custom tile showers.

Can you quote shower tile from photos?

Photos help, but the installer needs to see the shower before setting a price. The cost page explains what changes the work.
